Winemaking in Kosovo’s Theranda Valley traces its roots back to 1953, with a tradition steeped in passion, expertise, and generations of craftsmanship. Today, the vineyards and facilities continue to flourish, carrying forward a rich legacy of exceptional winemaking. Established in 2014 after the privatization of the local cooperative, Theranda Wine emerged as the custodian of its vineyards, facilities, and a rich legacy of winemaking know-how cultivated over generations.

What Critics, Sommeliers, and Enthusiasts Are Saying
The oldest Kosovar wine
The oldest Kosovar wine is a must-have for your tables and for your loved ones. Theranda Wines are produced in the Theranda region in the Shiroka valley, surrounded by the lush forests of Hisar, as well as on the Sopia plateau, protected by the Sharr Mountains. The Theranda region is authentic: full of color and a long history of cultivation, making this part of Kosovo truly beautiful. This is where Theranda wine finds its genesis—a wine that combines the past and the present, the traditional with the modern, and technology with craftsmanship. The goal is simple: to offer a high-quality wine tasting experience with a special flavor and a minimalist design for consumers. Order from wherever you are, and Theranda Wine will take care of every other detail.

Review: A Sip of Resilience – Exploring the Organic Wines of Theranda Valley
The Theranda Valley is redefining Balkan viticulture through a commitment to sustainability and heritage. By utilizing the region’s unique microclimate—sheltered by the Sharr Mountains—Suhareka Verari has pioneered the use of resistant grape varieties, such as Fleurtai and Cabernet Volos. These vines are naturally hardy, allowing for a strictly organic process that eliminates chemical pesticides and artificial additives. The result is a selection of wines exceptionally high in antioxidants and lower in sugar, offering a clean, "headache-free" experience. Restoring 60-year-old vineyards, the winery merges ancient tradition with modern ecological standards. For those seeking purity in a glass, Theranda’s resistant grapes offer a sophisticated, health-conscious alternative to mass-produced labels. It is a triumphant example of how nature and innovation can thrive together.

Kosovo grapes Fleurtai & Soreli
During the Diplomats Wine Extravaganza in The Hague on October 30, I tasted several excellent wines from Kosovo. Theranda winery had a surprising white wine consisting of the resistant grapes Fleurtai (80%) and Soreli (20%). Both grapes have the same parents: Friulano x Kozma. It produces a juicy wine. Theranda winery is located in the Suharekë wine region. It is one of five wine regions in southwestern Kosovo and consists of 575 ha.

Theranda Wine: A Refined Journey Through Kosovan Tradition
Theranda Vineyards & Wine in Suharekë is a brilliant example of Kosovan winemaking, where ancient tradition meets modern craftsmanship. Their collection, featuring Hisari, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, beautifully reflects the region’s rich viticultural heritage. A standout is the "ORA" Orange Wine—a rare, unfiltered gem. By fermenting white grapes with their skins, they’ve created a complex, amber-hued wine with smooth notes of ripe fruit. Every bottle showcases a deep commitment to quality and authenticity. For anyone seeking a refined, soul-stirring taste of tradition, Theranda offers an exceptional experience that truly honors its local roots. A must-try for wine enthusiasts!
